PRINCIPLES
CHOREOGRAPHIC PRINCIPLES
Implementing contemporary dance, independently from style and categorization, the choreographer Massimo Gerardi researches human relationships and the communication of personal emotions regarding the theme of the project, conveying the individual experiences of all artists involved in the creations: dancers, musicians, dramatic advisers and set designers. Everyday themes, also a recurrent topic in his choreographies, are treated with a touch of social criticism. In his performances, next to the focus on the movement, the spoken text becomes a recurrent and important driver of content. For his pieces he collaborates extensively with composers on new musical creations but he also makes use of existing contemporary/electronic music, often juxtaposing it with classical compositions. This combination strongly reflects his choreographic style which is based on modern/contemporary dance with influences of ballet technique, reaching an interesting combination of the different but interdependent genres. Invitations to international festivals, choreographic commissions for theatres, and productions in the free scene affirm the enduring artistic and activity of M. Gerardi.
